2011 NW Running League

The NWRL is like no other running club or league that you can find and be a part of. NWRL will award runners of all abilities unlike all the other running races where only the fastest runners are awarded. Each runner has their own story and we want to be a part of it. The stories of the elite runners can be found at Runnersworld.com and in their magazine. What about your story and your success? Your story and success deserves to be made available for others to know about. NWRL will make this happen.

How do you become a member?

Registration for the 2011 NW Running League will be available November 1, 2010.  You will have to register for league membership in addition to registering for individual races.  League membership will be only $25 for the year.  Races hosted by NW Running League will be available for a low cost for all league members.  We plan on hosting three races in 2011, Resolution Run 10k/5k, Run for the Roses Half Marathon, 10k & 5k, and Fall Finale 10k/5k.  Why should you become a member?  Keep reading . . .

Details

Registration for 2011 NW Running League membership will be available November 1, 2010.  At each approve race in 2011, you will have the opportunity to earn league points (see scoring system below for the ways to earn league points).

The four athletes in each of seven categories with the highest point totals at the end of the year will win cash prizes and the fifth place athlete receives a free league membership for next years events.

Categories

Seven categories are:

  1. Male Group A
  2. Male Group B
  3. Male Group C
  4. Female Group A
  5. Female Group B
  6. Female Group C
  7. Male/Female Group D

Categories are based on 5k mile pace:

  • Group A - 0:00 - 7:00
  • Group B - 7:00 - 9:00
  • Group C - 9:00 - 12:00
  • Group D - 12:00 +

Scoring System

The total score for each athlete will consist of points earned from a maximum of six approved races in 2011.  We are adding an additional opportunity to earn points by volunteering at one league approved race in 2011.  There are five ways to earn points:

  1. Performance - Placing in an approved race against league members within the same category
The first place athlete in each category will always get 50 points and the last place person will always
get 10 points.  Everyone else will be evenly spaced in between.

The formula used to determine points scored in each race is ((T-Y)/(T-1)*80+20)/2
where T = the total number of league members in the race
and Y = your finishing place against league members in your category.

    1. Set a Personal Record in an approved race
    2. Participate in an approved race
    3. Volunteer at an approved race
    4. Refer a friend to be a league member
    • PR = 20 points
    • Participating = 10 points
    • Volunteering = 10 points
    • Referral = 10 points/runner
